Not all VCRs across
the world are the same. The videos
listed on this web site are those videos available in the NTSC standard
only. Different countries use one of
three main video standards - PAL, NTSC or SECAM. This means that a videotape
from a PAL country will not play in a VCR in a country that uses the NTSC
standard and vice versa. NTSC is used in the United States and some
territories, Canada, Japan, Mexico and some countries of South America. PAL is used in
the United
Kingdom, Europe
(except France), Australia, New Zealand and some countries of South America. SECAM is used
in France, Russia and some of their former territories and
dependencies. Only dual-standard VCRs
can handle both NTSC and PAL standards, so please always make sure which
standard your VCR can handle and which standard the store is selling, before purchasing
any of these videos from an online store.

River
on DVD (Across the World)
|
Unlike the VHS section above, you should be able to
find all River related DVDs from across the world listed on this web site. However, DVDs, like VHS tapes, are encoded in
several different formats. For DVD
disks, the encoding is designated by a region, numbered 1 to 6. Only All Region DVD players will play more
than one region’s disks, so please check to see what region your DVD player can
handle and which region the store is selling, before purchasing any DVDs from
an online store.
